The 12 are the first of a 24-Osprey group to eventually be deployed to U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Okinawa.

Protesters from local-level resistance nationwide opposed the deployment. 

米軍普天間飛行場で運用の24-オスプレイ12機が陸揚された。県内外からやって来てオスプレイ運用の抗議デモが行われた。
